THE BORDERS OF THE FISHING AREAS MANAGED BY THE ''LIKA'' SPORTFISHING ASSOCIATION OF GOSPIĆ ARE AS FOLLOWS:

WARNING: DUE TO THE DANGER OF MINES ORIGINATING FROM THE HOMELAND WAR, FISHING IS FORBIDDEN ALONG THE ENTIRE COURSE OF THE RIVERS OF JADOVA AND POČITELJICA AND UPSTREAM OF THE ’’RIBNIČKI’’ BRIDGE ON THE LIKA RIVER.

 

OFFICE HOURS:

Until 31 May 2010 – Tuesdays and Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

After 1 June 2010 – pursuant to notice on the bulletin board (Fishermen’s Cabin)

FEES

The fee for obtaining a daily fishing licence regarding both Croatian and foreign citizens amounts to 60.00 HRK (valid for all fish species except for salmonids). According to the draft of the Assembly of the Sportfishing Association to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, the stocking fee amounts to 40.00 HRK per licence.

The daily fishing licence is valid 24 consecutive hours upon the issue time stated on the licence.

It is issued to both Croatian and foreign citizens without submitting a fishing exam certificate.

 

RESTRICTIONS

Close season is announced pursuant to the laws on close season and to the smallest size of fish allowed for fishing, processing and commercialisation.

PIKE – close season from February 1 to March 31 – smallest fish length 40 cm

CATFISH – close season from April 16 to June 15 – smallest fish length 60 cm

CARP– close season (only for the common carp) from April 1 to May 31 – smallest fish length 40 cm

TENCH – no close season – smallest fish length 20 cm

GRASS CARP – no close season – smallest fish length 60 cm

PERMANENT BAN CONCERNING THE FOLLOWING ENDANGERED SPECIES: CROATIAN MINNOW (PHOXINELLUS CROATICUS AND DELMINICHTYS JADOVENSIS) Permitted daily catch totals two pieces of food fish (catfish, pike, carp, grass carp and tench) or 5 kg of whitefish. Every carp heavier than 8 kg shall be returned to the water according to the principle CATCH AND RELEASE.

AFTER THE FISHING, FISHERMEN ARE OBLIGED TO SUBMIT A CATCH LIST FORM TO A RETAIL OUTLET.

 

                    SPECIAL MEASURES

One can fish with the maximum of three single-hook fishing rods, except for a wobbler which may be equipped with two hooks at most (single-hook, double-hook or triple-hook).

It is forbidden to pay no attention to the fishing rods or to leave the fishing area with fishing rods in the water.

Alochthonous fish species (neither dead nor alive) can be used for baits.

Fish caught while sportfishing shall be, immediately after the fishing or after leaving the fishing area at the latest, marked by cutting off the lower part of the tail fin.

Sportfishing includes a landind net, a keep net and a hook.

Fishes caught while sportfishing must not be commercialised.

Hand-trolling is forbidden with any kind of bait from February 1 to June 15.

Fishing from a boat is forbidden on all the tributaries of the Lika river, except on the Lika river downstream of the hamlet of Mušaluk and of the lake of Kruščica and in the area of Kosinje (Mlakva-Selište).

Long-lining, leaving the fishing rods alone and fishing with a speargun as well as using any kind of illegal fishing means are strictly forbidden.

All the fishermen are liable for protection of fish and in case of water pollution, fishkill or on the occasion of fish fry being stuck in river depressions as well as in case of all other irregularities, the Management Board or water bailiff shall be informed about.

After any kind of stocking session, fishing shall be forbidden for seven days.

Passive resistance to regulation violation shall be considered a legal offence.

At a request of an officer (water bailiff or fishing inspector), fishermen are obliged to show their fishing licences, ID cards, caught fish and fishing equipment.
